Coach Marty has over 45 years experience as a coach at the elementary, high school, rep, provincial and national levels. He is a retired York Region District School Board high school teacher.
Coach Shane
Coach Shane has played rep level basketball for 7 years, where he was the starting point guard. He played on his school basketball team for 5 years. This is Shane’s seventh year as a coach in our basketball program. He has played provincial level basketball and has been selected twice to represent Canada in a week long international basketball tournament in the United States. Coach Shane is currently enrolled in the Faculty of Education at Western University with the pursuit to be a mathematics teacher.
Coach Ilea, H.B.A., B.Ed, OCT,
Coach Ilea has played rep level basketball for 3 years, where she was the starting centre on her basketball team. She played on her school basketball team for 6 years. She has coached at our March Break and summer camps for the past 6 years and has been selected to represent Canada in a week long international basketball tournament in the United States. Coach Ilea is a certified teacher, holds multiple degrees from Queen’s University and is currently teaching Chemistry and English in the YRDSB.
Coach Zach, H.B.A., B.Ed, OCT,
Coach Zach has played basketball for most of his life. He is the head coach of the Junior Summer Camp in King City and has worked in our Autumn, Winter, and Spring basketball programs. He is highly renowned for his intricate and challenging basketball-themed games, allowing campers to improve on their basketball knowledge and overall skill. This is Coach Zach’s fourth year as a coach with Red Hornets Basketball. Coach Zach is a certified teacher, holds multiple degrees from Wilfrid Laurier University and is currently teaching mathematics in the YRDSB.
Coach Max
Coach Max has a lot of experience with our basketball programs. He attended a number of our summer basketball camps when he was younger, started on his school’s basketball team and has coached at our Autumn, Winter and Spring basketball programs as well as our summer basketball camps. Coach Max is in his final year at the University of Toronto.
Coach Johnathan
Coach Dariyan
Coach Dariyan has been playing basketball for most of his life and is currently in his 5th year of REP basketball. He was the starting center for his elementary school team, as well as the starting small forward on his high school team. He has attended our basketball program for 5 years and currently holds the record for the most trophies earned in our basketball camps. This is Coach Dariyan’s third year as a coach with Red Hornets Basketball.
Coach Leon
Coach Leon has been a part of the Red Hornets Basketball Camp for three years as both a coach and a camper, bringing both his passion and experience to the program. After playing rep basketball for three years and starting on his high school basketball team, Coach Leon is in his second year at York University. Coach Leon continues to coach basketball for his third year at Red Hornets basketball camp, where he continues to show his passion for the game through his methods of coaching.
Coach Sean
Coach Sean has a lot of experience with our basketball programs. When he was younger, he attended a number of our Autumn, Winter and Spring programs as well as our March break and summer basketball camps. Coach Sean even attended our very first summer basketball camp and then every basketball program we offered for the next 7 years. Coach Sean has played basketball at the rep level as well as on his school team. This is Coach Sean’s third year as a coach with Red Hornets Basketball.
Coach Cyrus
Coach Kyrus has been a part of Red Hornets Basketball Camp for 6 years as a camper and now as a coach. He has played for both his rep and school basketball teams for an even longer time as the starting point guard and in recent years the team captain. He has earned 9 trophies throughout our summer camps including all 3 different awards. This is Coach Kyrus’s first year as a coach with Red Hornets Basketball.
